dc.description.abstract	This article concerns the problem Mikhail Lermontov and the American literaturewhich is little studied in contemporary literary science. From comparative-typological perspective are examined the novel The Red Rover by James Fenimore Cooper and the literary heritage of the Russian poet. In this article is revealed the creative influence of this sea novel of the American writer on the short poem The Sail and the poem Ismail-Bei and is determined what is common and what is different in the Lermontov's development of separate themes and images.	en_US
