Abstract:
The current list of words and expressions that are most often used by participants in meetings of educators, conferences and other mass events where education problems are discussed is something like this: globalization, integration, innovation, sustainable development, etc. By adding a few other words to them, it is possible to construct sentences that can fill the text of a report or article on any topic. This will mean that we have a situation that reflects a bold move forward, which is able to support the already mentioned “sustainable development” of society. The author of the text, relying on a long period of work as a physics teacher at school, his scientific research in the field of pedagogy, in particular on the methodology of teaching the named subject, expresses concern that all this is important only in the environment of education organizers. The educational process also involves students, for whom these words and expressions do not carry a significant semantic load. They want to gain knowledge in the relevant subjects and will be happy if teachers create conditions for the development of their abilities. Based on this, he proposes to carry out the educational process in such a way that students feel the importance of the knowledge they receive in the present, and not only in the future. Concrete examples of the use of knowledge in physics to meet simple but important problems in their lives are given here.
