Dilema democrației

Abstract

The article highlights an interesting parallelism between two seemingly opposing political systems of the US and Russia that realize an attack on democracy. The paper mentions the arguments made by the proponents of the anti-democratic mindset in the US, which put forward the proposal of a centralized model of government inspired by the corporate structure. The evolution of the anti-democratic mindset in the USA is described. The paper analyzes conceptions of the Cathedral and the singularity of artificial intelligence: considered inevitable and desirable, a step towards post-human evolution. The second part of the article analyzes the manifestations of anti-democratism in Russia, including: ideological roots of ultra-nationalism and far-right organizations, propaganda and romanticization of anti-democratic leaders, information control and repression of opposition, nationalism and idealization of the past, and others. It concludes by showing the importance of education for democracy, which would be one of the ways to stop the rise of autocracy.
