Abstract

The new generation of students, both at the middle and high school level, have the need for education in a democratic spirit, because for the most part, a lot is discussed, but little is really done. As teachers of Romanian and Universal History, who also teach Education for Society, we have a rather large role and we have the opportunity to develop democratic values through the involvement of students in various group activities. Team engagement and communication provide the opportunity for students to collaborate and participate beyond mobile phones, beyond digitization, beyond gadgets of all kinds. The balance between students' own interests and those included in the national curriculum is a rather important educational endeavor. And if this balance is truly formed, then we can appreciate that students really know and can act and participate in a democratic spirit anywhere, including in history and civic education lessons.
