dc.description.abstract |
Inclusive education is key to strengthening an inclusive and tolerant society. International studies highlight the positive impact of the inclusion of children with disabilities on the academic results of children without disabilities, but also a higher level of tolerance. Reducing physical distance, by learning in the same class/school and providing opportunities for interaction in inclusive classes, contributes to reducing social distance and, respectively, increasing the degree of tolerance and acceptance of children with disabilities. The infrastructural, informational and attitudinal barriers that hinder the inclusion process need to be identified. Establishing appropriate measures to eliminate those barriers will facilitate ensuring access to an inclusive educational environment and, respectively, will condition the exercise of the right to education for all children. |
