In this article, we address the idea of the importance of developing intellectual curiosity in children and adults. Developing intellectual curiosity is a defining premise for academic success, acceptance of reality, personal development, professional development, and lifelong learning. Intellectual curiosity is an ability that reveals human potential, a fact that fits perfectly with one of the purposes of education - to develop to the maximum the skills to which a person is susceptible, a context in which intellectual curiosity becomes a key to learning. From a very young age, this instinctive thirst to discover the things around us influences our ability to learn, observe, and analyze. Recent scientific research shows that curiosity (intellectual engagement) and effort are factors directly correlated with academic performance and have a greater predictive effect than intelligence. Because curiosity is a hunger for discovery, people with a curious mind can compensate for a lower level of ability by being more persistent, more attentive to details, and more eager to learn. So, the more the human dimension of knowledge expands, the more the chances of success and self realization increase. |
