Abstract

The professionalization of the teaching career at the European level aligns with the European Commission's goal of creating the European Education Area by 2030. This goal emphasizes that teachers and trainers must have continuous access to professional development opportunities. According to the Council's conclusions on "European teachers and trainers for the future" quality teaching and learning are possible when teachers engage in professional development throughout their careers. Quality teachers are the foundation of a high-performing education system, and both are essential for preparing young generations to become active and productive members of society. Although the role of teachers is becoming increasingly crucial as the European Union expands and faces educational, social, and economic challenges, the appeal of the teaching profession continues to decline. The growing pressure related to student performance expectations, their diversity, and rapid technological changes have a significant impact on the teaching career.
