Abstract

The influence of birth order on personality and leadership profiles is a current area of research within the scientific community, particularly given recent societal shifts. The initial explanatory efforts came from psychoanalytic psychologists; subsequently, with the advancement and refinement of research methodologies, new theoretical perspectives have emerged regarding the connection between birth order (ranking) and leadership, defined as the set of skills and behaviors effective in managing groups, regardless of their size. Additionally, modern perspectives on leadership development have reevaluated practical implications by suggesting a potential profile of an effective leader, highlighting a range of predisposing characteristics, including birth order. This article examines both classic psychoanalytic perspectives and contemporary approaches, analyzing key concepts and theoretical trends that have significantly influenced research objectives related to the early identification of a personality profile characterized by effective leadership.
