dc.description.abstract |
Integrated teaching is an educational model that combines various fields of study into a unified context to provide students with a holistic understanding of knowledge and skills. This approach responds to the educational needs of students, which are shaped by the dynamics, structure, and characteristics of today’s world. Real-life problems are inherently integrated and cannot be solved in isolation. Therefore, students need to develop the ability to transfer knowledge quickly and effectively between disciplines, synthesize information, and make connections between accumulated knowledge.
The integrated curriculum approach is based on connecting content across subjects and is implemented through interdisciplinary, transdisciplinary, and multidisciplinary models. The goal of education, as stated by Albert Einstein, should be to prepare students to act and think independently, while also encouraging them to serve their communities.
In the context of globalization, contemporary education must integrate intercultural and multicultural dimensions to address the challenges of the modern world. Integrated learning develops skills needed in a pluralistic society and bridges the gap between classroom learning and real-life situations.
Integrated teaching encourages active learning, critical thinking, and empathy by creating a dialogue between different disciplines. Teachers play a crucial role in smoothly transitioning between subjects, creating a cohesive learning experience. This approach helps students develop important competencies such as communication, autonomy, and positive attitudes toward the world around them. |
