Zur Frage der Integration lexikalischer Idiome in das konstruktionsgrammatische Konzept

Abstract

Construction Grammar claims to take into accounts many linguistic phenomena as possible. Therefore idioms have been take into account in this framework from the beginning. In this article two basic assumptions of Construction Grammar with regard to the use of idioms with the meanings “to cheat on someone” and “to understand nothing about something” are examined for their empirical relevance using corpus data. The first basic assumption concerns the Lexicon-Grammar Continuum, postulated in Construction Grammar. The second basic assumption refers to the rejection of the distinction between semantics and pragmatics. The corpus linguistic analysis of selected lexical idioms has shown that both basic assumptions seem to make sense, and idioms can be integrated into the construction grammar concept.
