Abstract:
The aim of the article is to outline some conceptual-normative aspects of the notion of human dignity and to design a methodological framework for the development in students of the specific competence Valuing human dignity and human rights. In this context, the opinions of some renowned scholars/ philosophers such as I. Kant, D. Gusti, G. Albu are given. Several provisions of European/national legislative and normative acts on human dignity and human rights are also highlighted. The methodological component of the article underlines the curricular framework of the school subject Education for society with reference to the competence of enhancing human dignity and human rights and presents some examples of good practices in developing this competence within school classes and extracurricular activities. The experimental approach highlights the problems that persist in the educational institution with regard to the understanding, internalization and manifestation of this competence by students, both at school and in the community.
