Abstract:
The study analyses how the concepts of civic education, citizenship education, education for society, and democratic citizenship have been implemented in the educational system of the Republic of Moldova in the last three decades, demonstrating both the assumption of these concepts and their adaptation to Moldovan educational needs. At the same time, the authors discuss the involvement of civic society and other actors/stakeholders than state institutions in promoting democratic education, considering the specifics of the post-totalitarian society and the political, social and economic challenges that the Republic of Moldova is going through. us, the article represents an assessment of educational policies and strategies and the legal and curricular framework regarding civic education in the Republic of Moldova. Ultimately, the current challenges and perspectives of this citizenship education in Moldovan society are presented.
