Abstract:
The referendum in the Republic of Moldova represents an important way in which citizens can express their will and influence political and social decisions. The essence of this democratic instrument lies in the power it gives the population to participate directly in the decision-making process, to support or reject certain legislative or political initiatives. The essence of the referendum in the Republic of Moldova must be related to respecting the will of the people and promoting participatory democracy. Through this tool, citizens have the opportunity to make their voices heard and express their views on matters of importance to their society. Referendums can address a wide range of issues, such as constitutional changes, important laws, public policies, or decisions about membership of international organizations. They are therefore an essential way in which citizens can exercise their sovereignty and influence the political and social direction of a country. Thus, in the order that follows, we propose to highlight the most important particularities regarding the basic notion, the doctrinal and legislative essence, as well as the detailed content of the referendum together with all its identification and manifestation typology.
