Peculiarities of communication styles manifestation among adolescents

Abstract

The article highlights some particularities of various styles of communication of teenagers: assertive, non-assertive, aggressive, manipulative. The use of assertive and non-aggressive styles in communication facilitates the successful social inclusion of adolescents, contributes to building solid interpersonal relationships, reduces the risk of social isolation, maladaptive and deviant behaviors. The predilected adoption of aggressive and manipulative styles by adolescents in communicating with those around them, can lead to the emergence of tensions, conflicts, difficulties in managing emotions, can generate negative perception from those they interact with, affecting social inclusion and the harmonious development of skills of assertive and empathic communication, that are essential for establishing balanced and constructive interpersonal relationships.
