Abstract:
The article presents the results obtained in the pre-experimental stage of the doctoral research "Developing research/investigative competency in Geography discipline at the high school level. " These are subordinate to the aim of identifying the research project method as a means of enhancing the instructional process in developing specific scientific knowledge in the field of Geography, epistemic and procedural knowledge, and investigative skills. The article has a bipartite structure approached integrally. It describes the methodological aspects that have been conceived, implemented, and subsequently reconsidered and restructured for application on a larger sample based on an example of a research project. The opinions of the students participating in the project, expressed through a selfassessment questionnaire, argue for the importance of using the research project according to the targeted objectives.
