Aspecte din activitatea lui Teodor Iacobescu în Asociația Generală a Învățătorilor din România (1926-1969)

Abstract

Teodor Iacobescu was a famous personality among teachers in Romania. Captain in reserve of the Romanian Army and combatant veteran of the Great War, he was a member of the Central Committee of the General Association of Teachers from Romania. Author of didactic textbooks for primary education. He also held political positions, representing Cetatea-Albă county in Parliament, initially from the Peasant Party, and then from the National Peasant Party. After 1938, he fulfilled the duties of president of the above-mentioned General Association, thus contributing to the modernization of education in Romania and to the inauguration of a new headquarters of the Association that he presided over. In the years following 1948, he was closely monitored by the militia and security surveillance structures. He passed away on March 6, 1969. In the following lines, we present to the reader specific aspects of his activity at the head of A.G.I.R. between 1938-1944. But also some information from his life after 1948.
