Abstract:
Starting from primary archival sources, the present work, with the scientific title mentioned above, refers to the role played by the regional, district, communal, and village libraries regarding the cultural and propaganda activities carried out under the careful coordination of the Romanian communist regime. The party's interest in libraries increased with the seizure of power by the communists and their great desire to spread their own doctrine and ideology. Despite the activities carried out both at the level of libraries and within other cultural institutions such as cultural homes, schools, or houses of culture, the communist regime did not bring anything new from the point of view of cultural development, on the contrary, the population experienced a real regression, bringing her into a state of complete isolation.
