Abstract:
The subject addressed in the article concerns the philosophical essence of representation and the world of contemplation in epistemology. It is followed and analyzed the cognitive process and the constitution of pure perception, the transition, then, through representation as a subjective reproductive image, to the symbolic, non-contemplative form of knowledge through language. The essence of representation lies in the fact that it thus makes the connection between sensible "living" through contemplation and rational thought, mediated by conventional language, as a symbolic form. Thus, the symbolic existence constituted/constructed through language becomes, in the process of knowledge, another dimension, the superior dimension of reality. The essence of man as a rational being is transformed into a symbolic being that communicates, in a semiotic context, with meanings and meanings, thus living in the universe of symbolic forms - mythology, language, science/knowledge, culture and religion.
