Abstract:
The study is dedicated to evaluation of the state of the studies of hydrology and connected sciences in the universities of the Republic of Moldova. From the total of 12 state universities, hydrology is studied at 4 institution of higher education. General hydrology is a course studied within specialties Geography, Geography and English language, Geography and Informatics, Geography and Biology, from 3 universities: Moldova State University, "Ion Creanga" Pedagogical State University, "Alecu Russo" State University of Balti. A couple of years ago, specialty Hydrology and Meteorology was active at the Moldova State University, special courses dedicate to hydrology were general hydrology, measurement methods and tools, hydrometeorological statistic methods, hydrodynamics, international collaborations in hydrometeorology, etc. At the Technical University of Moldova, hydrology is studies from engineering point of view, at the courses of two main specialties water supplies and sewage and environmental engineering (the last being as an input from former Agrarian State University absorbed by the Technical University of Moldova). Total number of courses hours varies from 90 to 180, depending on university and course. Finalization of course is usually done by final examination. Number of credits varies from 3 to 6. It should be mentioned that the need of specialists in this field for national economy is high and the attention to development of qualified staff should increase.
