dc.description.abstract |
The study is dedicated to popularizing the concept of ecovaleology and familiarizing young specialists with the principles of this scientific direction, by addressing the topic of antioxidant interactions between natural compounds in the Ecological Chemistry course. The integration of the concept of ecovaleology in the course of Ecological Chemistry was achieved by explaining and constantly mentioning the way some compounds or environmental conditions can affect human health. The accumulated data demonstrate that the lesson, in which the experimental results obtained on the topic of antioxidant interactions were discussed and analysed, had a positive impact on the understanding of the advantages and risks of antioxidant consumption, contributing to the shaping of certain opinions regarding the appropriate sources, importance, effects, mechanisms of antioxidant and prooxidant action of the given compounds, the type of antioxidant interactions, as well as the negative effect of pollutants and radical species on health. The results attest to the effectiveness of the didactic process in popularizing the ecovaleological principles and emphasize the importance of capitalizing on this concept as a sustainable and feasible way of training healthy and ecological skills among young people. |
