Motivația pentru cariera didactică – formare inițială și continuă

Abstract

The motivation for the teaching career is a priority of any reform policy not only in the educational field but also in the social field. Motivation is essential for a successful teaching career. Several intrinsic and extrinsic factors can influence teachers' motivation. This article aims to provide an analysis of motivation for a teaching career, exploring several dimensions of this complex concept. The article brings to attention the concerns, the problems related to the motivation for the teaching career: the decrease in professional satisfaction; lack of recognition and appreciation; difficult working conditions; and salary. The study highlights the factors influencing the motivation for the teaching career, and the types of emotions as motivational triggers, which direct and support an activity. The structural forms of motivation and the functions of motive are explored. To better understand the problem, the results of the action research are reflected, synthetically, correlative to the problem of motivation for the teaching career - initial and continuous training. The research directions that could lead to a better understanding of the motivation for the teaching career are elucidated.
