Abstract:
Human existence is conditioned by exposure to multiple environmental events and interactions with other people, as well as personal or professional challenges, from which various stress factors result. Suffered traumas, going through difficult periods or getting involved with troublesome problems, we can lead to maladaptive psychosomatic and psychobehavioral reactions, which are inevitable and natural. At the same time, such experiences awaken a combative side of the personality, born from the need to adapt, survive and return to normal - an ability called resilience. By developing awareness and building resilience, the individual acquires a valuable resource for psycho-emotional and functional recovery. This helps in psychosomatic healing and increasing the quality of life. One of the key components of resilience, mentioned in various specialist studies, is social support. This article brings into focus the complex relationship between social support and individual resilience in the face of adversity.
