Abstract:
The European integration towards which the Republic of Moldova is aspiring to requires major changes in different essential sectors, amongst which is education. A primary role in our country's integration plays teaching/learning/evaluating of foreign languages and this presents the teaching body with new challenges and imposes the assessment of teaching foreign languages from different perspectives, one of these being psychological. Without the knowledge of psychological modifications that arise in the thought process while learning a foreign language, a professor's task becomes even more difficult. The concept of a language is very broad and consists of different fields, amongst them psycholinguistics. To be able to look for and find new mechanisms that would facilitate the teaching and learning process of the taught language, future foreign language professors should also learn the psychology of teaching and learning a language. This could increase the efficiency of the instructional process, and the professor could face challenges of the present, as well as future expectations.
