The article examines the activity of the Royal Cultural Foundation „Princepele Carol” in interwar Bessarabia. The author mentions that in the period 1918-1940, an active cultural movement of royal and private cultural societies was attested in Bessarabia. The royal societies were patronized and financially supported by the king, which included a wide spectrum of scholastic and extracurricular activities. The priority objective of all cultural units was the national educational of the youth, the development of patriotic consciousness, the inclusion of all children in the training and education process, the development of the national intellectual elite, the protection of heritage, etc. An intense activity on the territory of Bessarabia between 1934-1940 had the Royal Cultural Foundation "Prince Carol", which had a very aspectual character. The most important activities carried out under the aegis of the foundation with the participation of Bessarabians can be mentioned: the establishment of cultural homes with a well-defined organization and work plan, the opening and equipping of libraries, peasant courses, sociological and monographic teams, encouraging artistic events, raising awareness of issues such as training the population, protecting heritage, involving the natives in the emancipation of localities. In some localities were organized scientific conferences, exhibitions, contests, seminars on current topics, were disseminated publications such as magazines, newspapers, books etc. The organization has made its full contribution in educating the national consciousness. |
