Abstract:
The film "Rehearsal with orchestra" (1979) by the famous Italian director Federico Fellini was made in 1979 with the financial support of the TV station "Rai Uno" and starts as a regular news report, in which orchestra members are interviewed by a TV crew. At one point the instrumentalists rebel against an excessively authoritarian conductor, and are also urged on by union leaders. But the orchestra ignores the cataclysm that is announced from outside the cathedral. Towards the end of the film one of the walls of the Catholic chapel collapses and a spherical metal object, used to demolish buildings, emerges from a crack. This apocalyptic image is an allegory of today's society and world, which is torn by numerous conflicts and wars.
