Abstract:
In this study we talk about the usefulness of contrastive linguistics in teaching foreign languages and literatures. The views of researchers concerning the present theory are divided: on the one hand are those who consider contrastive linguistics the "key" of teaching, on the other - those who deny its powerful role in relation to the methodology of languages. Once the aim of contrastive linguistics is to highlight the similarities and the differences between languages, we believe that certain differences will help our disciples to come to avoid the interlingual interference in language learning.
The comparative literature is a newer area, but it is present in the education system of "Ion Creanga" University. Thanks to the compared literature, the students develop critical thinking competence and have the opportunity to demonstrate the capabilities of the original individual work that they do in their literary studies.
