In this article is addressed the issue of quality assurance in education at the local level from the perspective of the functions and attributions of the local specialized body in the educational field, resized in terms of quality assurance. The epistemological basis of the concept of quality in education is analyzed and exemplified, concisely specifying the researchers' position vis-à-vis the issue of quality assurance in education.
