Abstract:
The article is dedicated to one of the most popular genres of the religious literature – apochryphal. From the beginning of the Middle ages the apochryphal legends drew the writers’ attention. This genre becomes the most popular in the XIXth century. Apochryphal beginnings got an important place in philosophical drama “Kain” ( 1821) by J.G. Byron, in the novels “Life of Jesus”( 1863) by E. Renan and “Karamazov Brothers” (1880) by F.M. Dostoyevschy. The biblical motifs, penitrating in narration of these literary works, transform and get apochryphal character.
