Abstract

The toponym, as a sign, determines the possibilities of interpreting the denotation and connotation, of the effect of meaning as an interpreter, effect of the relation of the sign with the reference. An important dimension of reality and literary text is the time and space of the work. Toponymy is a rich and valuable area of study and knowledge of the culture and history of the people. In toponymy, they found important moments in people's material and spiritual life: occupations, habits, faith. The space is defined by historical and social landmarks and can be: with precise or indeterminate location; real or imaginary, open or closed. The space is represented by all the places where the action takes place.
