Abstract:
Based on the systematic list of bivalves indicated for the fauna of the Republic of Moldova, some biological and ecological particularities of the species have been elucidated. The bivalves’ state of protection and conservation, the zoogeographic origin of the species has been analyzed. Invasive species are a major threat to indigenous biodiversity in Europe. There are five species of invasive bivalves for the fauna of the Republic of Moldova: Corbicula fulminea (Muller, 1774), Corbicula fulminalis (Muller, 1774), Dreissena bugensis (Andrusov, 1897), Dreissena polymorpha (Pallas, 1771), Sinanodonta woodiana (Lea, 1843).
