dc.description.abstract Oceania is the furthest geographic region from Europe, including in the most cases also Australia. With a territory of 8525989 km2 and a population of more than 40 million inhabitants, this part of the world is distinguished by the many islands of different origin located in the Pacific Ocean. From a cultural and geographic point of view, the region is divided into Melanesia, Polynesia and Micronesia, to which Australia can be added. Occasionally, Oceania's borders extend to neighboring areas of Indonesia, such as East Timor and western part of New Guinea. The analysis and description of the cultural and geographic aspects of ethnicities, confessions, languages and the cultural situation as a whole is made following two field visits and research in New Zealand, Fiji, Tonga, Tuvalu, Vanuatu, Australia and East Timor. There are presented the current aspects of the political, cultural, ethnic and linguistic geography of the states of Oceania. en_US
