Abstract:
The paper presents a study of the water quality of Prut river in the Central Development Region of the Republic of Moldova during the years 2010-2017. Information collection and analysis confirm the average (andsometimes high) level of water pollution and a pronounced anthropogenic impact. Water quality indicators (hydrochemical, hydrobiological and microbiological) in the observation posts of the river Prut, according to estimates, are mostly placed in Class II "clean" and III "moderately polluted", but also with some deviations to Class IV "damaged ". In conclusion, the necessity of implementing a rigorous ecological management in the context of the international requirements of the sustainable development in the region is emphasized.
