Abstract:
In this paper, is made a general evaluation of the anthropic tourist resources from the Middle Course of Dniester River Basin (within the limits of the Republic of Moldova). According to the Register of State Protected Monuments, in the study region there are ≈2500 historical and cultural objectives with tourist significance. Over ½ of the total number are historical- archaeological sites, including ≈ 900 human settlements, about 400 funerary complexes and 56 fortresses and other objects with defence functions. At the same time, most of the historical- archaeological objectives are not included in the current tourist circuits and the marking and information panels are present only at an insignificant number of objects. The second position is occupied by memorial complexes, with 560 units (22%), among which are the monuments dedicated to Soviet military glory (≈400). The study region is rich in Christian Orthodox churches and monasteries (ca. 340), including cave hermitages in the limestone and steep clif s on the banks of the Dniester and Răut rivers, wooden churches (33). Most of these objectives have access roads and are included in the zonal tourist circuits.
