Abstract:
For the Republic of Moldova a serious problem is finding tools for an ef ective demographic policy which should be based on an adequate statistical record of the population. The population of the Left Bank regions is still not included in the country's demographic indicators. The data provided by the statistical services of the region make it possible to compare the rates, factors and causes of population decline on both banks. The comparison of the value of demographic losses in the intercensal periods starting from 1989 is presented. Transnistria and the northern regions of the RM are distinguished by large scale of depopulation.
