Abstract:
The urban and peri-urban space represent two components of the urbanization process, having a major influence on the polarization and territorial organization not only for the Central Development Region, but also for the entire territory of the Republic of Moldova. The Central Development Region is one of the first functional regions in the context of the application of the regional development policy, whose purpose consists in the administrativeterritorial, economic-financial and institutional decentralization. The purpose of this study is to assess the evolution of urban and peri-urban space and the role of this space in the context of spatial decentralization, successes and limitations in this process. Research methods use: statistics, comparative, systemic, spatial analysis.
