Zonele vulnerabile la nitrați – de la identificare la Codul de bune practici agricole și programul de măsuri privind prevenirea poluării apelor cu nitrați din surse agricole

Abstract

Agriculture is one of the basic branches of the economy of the Republic of Moldova. Agricultural land, including arable land, grassland, multiannual plantations represents about 74% of the total area of the country. The assessment of pollution sources indicates that agricultural land is the main cause of the risk for not achieveing the environmental objectives for surface water bodies, and for some groundwater bodies too (especially for the groundwater horizon). As a result of the analysis of the monitoring data, it was established that in surface waters there are no exceedances higher than 50 mg/l of NO3 concentration. In the case of groundwater bodies, essential exceedances are recorded in the case of the Holocene alluvial- deluvial aquifer (groundwater), on an area of approximately 41% of the country's territory. The Code of Good Agricultural Practice aims to recommend the most useful practices, measures and methods possible to be applied by every farmer, agricultural producer, for the protection of waters against pollution with fertilizers (especially nitrates) from agricultural activities.
