dc.description.abstract The paper elucidates the current taxonomic and phytogeographical situation of the representatives of the Poaceae family from the collections of ornamental plants of the National Botanical Garden (Institute)”Al. Ciubotaruˮ. Grasses include 23 genera, 30 species and 28 cultivars. More numerous is the genus Miscanthus Anderss.: 2 species and 18 cultivars. Most - perennials, rhizomiferous geophytes, and 8 species - annual terophytes. According to the phytogeographical analysis, the studied pockets belong to the following geoelements: Eurasian (47%), Mediterranean (16%), North American (9%), Eurosiberian (6%), Asian (16%), Pontic-Caucasian (3%), Circumpolar (3%). Through the habitus, the foliage, the color and the long period of vegetation, the grasses become popular for the phytoimprovement of the environment, by arranging it. en_US
