Abstract:
We studied the quality of the freshly harvested mass in stem elongation, tasseling, milk-wax stage of grains and wax stage of grains of sorghum - Sudan grass hybrid ‘SAȘM 4’ cultivated in the experimental plot of the National Botanical Garden (Institute) “Alexandru Ciubotaru”, Chisinau, R. Moldova. It was determined that the chemical composition and nutritive value varied depending on the harvest time: 6.53-18.40% crude protein, 2.05-3.86% crude fats, 28.62-37.61% crude cellulose, 38.90-54.84% nitrogen free extract, 7.71-10.56 % sugars, 1.43-11.94% starch, 5.25-10.22 % ash, 0.20-0.30% calcium, 0.13-0.26% phosphorus, 31.85-53.00 mg/kg carotene, 0.75-1.01 nutritive units and 8.23-9.23 MJ/kg metabolizable energy, 58-140 g digestibile protein / nutritive unit. The biochimical methane production potential of sorghum - Sudan grass substrates varied from 269 to 290 L/kg of organic matter.
