Abstract:
The reaction between pyridine-2,6-dicarbonyl dichloride and barium(II) and cobalt(II) thiocyanates in the methanol/ethanol environment result in two hetero-bimetallic compounds were obtained, which differ fundamentally: the compound obtained in methanol is a molecular compound with the formula [BaCoL13(μ-NCS)2(NCS-κN)2] (1) (L1 - dimethylpyridine-2,6-dicarboxylate ester), and the one obtained in ethanol is one of ionic nature with the formula [BaL24][Co(NCS)4] (2) (L2 – diethylpyridine-2,6-dicarboxylate ester). The complexes were investigated by X-ray and IR spectroscopy methods.
