Abstract:
The results presented in this work refer to the removal of nitrite ions (NO2-) from contaminated waters (synthetic solutions) by applying a hybrid process of adsorption-ultrafiltration. As adsorbent, a commercial modified nanoclay (Nanomer® I.28E, with a content of 25-30% trimethyl stearyl ammonium) was used. The ultrafiltration experiments were performed in batch mode with dead-end flow using polymeric and composite porous membranes. The dynamics of the permeate flow were modeled with the aid of kinetic mathematical models in order to establish the membrane fouling mechanism.
