Abstract:
Ensuring a quality education requires the creation in educational institutions of the optimal conditions for nurturing the potential of each student. Thus, the school discovers its function of counseling in interaction with that of informing and training the human personality. In this sense, educational counseling includes the action of directing the child to the learning styles that suit him, thus satisfying his aspirations, developing all the possibilities to the maximum and ensuring him equal opportunities in the formation and development of his personality. An essential component of the educational counseling process is the profile of the school counselor. This article sets out the competencies and attributes of the school counselor who must be endowed with a set of knowledge, skills and attitudes from several areas of activity.
