Abstract

This article examines the concept of "reading literacy" as one of the most important components in assessing the functional literacy of a student. The skills and abilities that the student masters in the process of working with the text are listed. There are presented effective methods and techniques that contribute to increasing the level of reading literacy in order to educate and train a comprehensively developed literate person, capable of independent and real life situations upon completion of training.
