Abstract:
Based on bibliographic investigation and ethnological research, the article "Symbolic connotations of anthropomorphic representations on textiles" aims at showing the image of the most common anthropomorphic representations (feminine silhouettes, eye, hand, heart, Thracian horseman, hora) on traditional textiles. The author analyzes these ornaments from aesthetic point of view, highlighting major symbolic, mythological, apotropaic meanings. A special role is given to archaic meanings of hora as a sign of national and cultural identity.
