Abstract

This article updates briefly the definition of the museum as a socio-cultural institution. There are described the most important moments in the history of the foundation of the museum „Memory of the Nation”. It is underlined the idea that this museum is/can become an educational environment complementary to the school, in general, and to the history lesson, in particular. It is presented a way to use the museum exhibition in the process of teaching, namely the project A Visit to the Museum „Memory of the Nation" - an Opportunity to Look History in the Eye.
