Abstract:
The article emphasizes the influence of the mediators: perceived locus of control, the severity of the
stress, the emotions perceived and the perceived efficiency of the coping strategies at elementary
school children. Coping is the process through which people regulate their behavior and emotions
in situations of psychological stress. This is one of the five areas of emotional intelligence identified
by R. Bar-On. In the article are presented the procedure and results of the research, which is based
on a sample of 17 institutions from Chisinau. As well we offer recommendations for teachers how to
develop abilities of emotional intelligence during lessons and are offered argument in favor of
teaching emotional intelligence in schools.
