The family is the first institute of socialization. Children learn the basis of communication and
interpersonal relations from family. Dysfunctional families’ destroy relationship and have a negative
impact on personality traits. Family performs many functions including security function, educational
function, emotional function and communication function. Addictive behaviour at children is
connected with emotional function which involves meeting the needs of family members in sympathy,
respect and emotional support. If these needs are not satisfied as a result children can manifest fear,
anxiety, loss of safety sense and suspicious attitude toward others.
