Abstract:
The article is a correlational study that has as objective to investigate the relationship
between self-esteem and stress at teenagers. The study revealed that if stressors lead to reactions
for teenagers with low self-esteem, then self-esteem could be a moderating variable in the
relationship between the stressor and reaction. Adolescents with normal self-esteem are prone to
adopt more stressful adjustment strategies than individuals with low self-esteem. Thus, faced with
the same stressors in the environment, teenagers with low self-esteem will experience more
reactions than those with high self-esteem and will experience a higher level of stress.
