Abstract:
This research aimed at highlighting the relations between the academic performance of
students and the scores obtained in measuring the personality factors from the social-cognitive
theory namely: self-efficacy, self-esteem, locus of control, hardiness, sense of coherence and
optimism. The research has been conducted on a sample of 196 participants, students of Hyperion
University of Bucharest. Following the processing of the outcomes, we found that there are
associations between academic performance and the personality factors: self-efficacy, self-esteem,
hardiness, sense of coherence and optimism.
The best predictor was self-efficacy. Between locus of control and academic performance,
we have not found significant associations.
