Alexei Mateevici – apărător al țărănimii basarabene

Abstract

Alexei Mateevici is known to the general public as the author of the State Anthem of the Republic of Moldova "Our Language". The poet, the son of a country priest (from the village of Zaim, Causeni district), grew up with the children of peasants from that locality, he knew "live" the problems faced by their parents. In Tsarist Russia one of the main problems was that of the land, which had its specificity in the province of Bessarabia. A. Mateevici knew the thirst of the ploughmen for the earth. In his poems, but also in journalism, he raised this subject more than once. These aspects of A. Mateevici's work are set out in the following lines.
