Abstract:
The article focuses on the importance of such discipline as historical chronology, as well as the
problems that scientists face in the chronological measurements of historical phenomena. The author draws
attention to the direct dependence of scientific conclusions and statements on the established dates of the
investigated events and processes. On the example of the chronology of the Ukrainian national liberation
struggle in the first third of the twentieth century the author demonstrates the difference in interpretations,
assessments of historical phenomena. That in turn, leads to an ambiguous understanding of events,
deepening discrepancies in the assessments of scientists of certain phenomena, complicating the formation of
an objective vision of processes.
